Put simply, sometimes words won't do.
Our thoughts and feelings are complicated things, and when words fail us, art (meaning creativity of any form) can help us express and explore those experiences.
Making art is like having a direct line to our subconscious, and Art therapy is the way we make sense of it.

Anything You Might Bring to a Talk Therapist, You Can Address With an Art Psychotherapist.
Art Therapy is a therapy, first and foremost; so anything that may typically be worked on with the help of a taling therapist can also be done with Art Therapy. That being said, Art Therapy can be particularly effective in certain areas of concern, for instance there is a growing body of research that Art Therapy has proven to be effective when dealing with issues such as Depression, Low Mood, Self-Esteem, Phobias, Anxiety and Post-Traumatic Stress.
Of Course!
While many consider Art Therapy to be best done in person, this is not always practical or even tolerable for the client. If you can communicate with your therapist, and access anything you can make something with, then you can do Art Therapy. Following the COVID-19 pandemic, we all became aware of what could be achieved remotely- and online art therapy was no exception!
Absolutely not!
This is Art Therapy, not Art Class; we use art as a means of communication, expression and exploration. There is no "good" or "bad" art in art therapy- what's important is what it means.
Well, that depends...
Each session will last a "therapeutic hour" (50 minutes), but how many sessions is up to you. This will be informed by how well the approach of online art therapy suits you, and what issues you want to address. These are things we can discuss via free consultation, so get in touch using the contact section and we can take it from there.
